This homemade pizza sauce is thick and spicy with delicious flavor of its own. I have prepared this many times and its always a hit.
This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for upto a week.
Yield : For 2 to 3 large pizza approximately

Onion - ½ of 1 medium size onion ( finely chopped )
Garlic clove - 4 cloves, minced
Tomatoes - 3 (blanched, peeled and pureed)
Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp
Tomato Paste - 3 tbsp(optional)
Dried oregano - 2 to 3 tsp
Salt - to taste
Sugar - 1½ tsp (To balance the sourness of the tomato)
Black pepper - ½ tsp
Bay leaf - 1
Capsicum - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)(optional)
Red chilli flakes - Add according to your spice level
Olive Oil - 2 tbsp
Directions
Heat oil in a pan and add onion and garlic; saute until soft and transparent.
Add pureed tomato, tomato sauce and tomato paste and stir until smooth; add little water
Add remaining ingredients and allow to boil and simmer till become thick sauce in consistency.
Once it is done, remove from the stove and discard the bay leaf .
Your Homemade Pizza / Pasta sauce is ready to use.
Note:
You can adjust salt , sugar and spice level according to your taste.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely home made sauce is so much better, tastier and healthier. Since it can be kept in the fridge for two weeks, there's probably other recipes we can use the sauce for. Yum and love it.
