Spicy Mushroom Cheese Sandwich

A tasty & healthy filling for sandwiches, ideal for lunchbox and picnics!

Ingredients:

Mushroom – 8 to 10 piece
Bread – 8 slices
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato – ½ (finely chopped)
Garlic – 4 cloves (chopped)
Redchilli powder – ¾ tsp
Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
Oregano - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Salt - to taste
Tomato ketchup – 1 or 2 tsp
Mozzarella cheese – to sprinkle over the mushroom masala
Butter  – to spread as required

Directions:

Heat oil in a pan; add onion, garlic and saute for 2 minutes.

Once it is done, add the chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, salt and spice powders. Allow to cook; no need to add water as mushroom have the tendency to leave water.

When the mushroom mixture is cooked, add oregano and mix well. Switch off the gas and keep aside.

Apply butter in bread. Spread the mushroom mixture on one slice, sprinkle some cheese and cover it with the another slice.

Toast in a sandwich maker or in the pan for about 2 to 4 minutes.

Cut the sandwich into half and it is ready to serve.

Note:

You may apply tomato sauce on bread before spreading the mushroom masala to add to the taste.

Instead of oregano, you may add coriander leaves.

You may also substitute chicken for mushroom.
